ITV Sport: Tour De France Podcast — This thing and why I like it #4

Quelle surprise, another cycling thing. But I really bloody love this podcast. It’s everything that ‘sidecar’ content for sports coverage should be. It continues the experience for the avid Tour de France viewer by giving context, in-depth interviews and an intimate feeling of what it’s like to cover an event as magnificent as the Tour; while also filling in the more casual follower who can only drop-in and out of the live coverage. It’s a timely, concise and insightful piece of daily reportage.

The best thing about it, however, is how lo-fi and accessible it feels. It feels unedited, unmediated and raw and really draws you into what feels more like a conversation between some very informed mates in a coffee shop than ‘radio’. I find it quite difficult to synopsise audio content, so I’m not going to bother trying, but all I can say is that even if your interest in competitive cycling only stretches as far as watching it in the Olympics every four years, you might want to give this a go. Try and watch a bit of ITV Sport’s really excellent TV coverage too though, obviously.

You can find the thing in all podcast apps and all the links are right here on the ITV website.
